About the Reserve

Mana Hotels is pleased to share the progress in the development of the Tiger Reserve in the Ranakpur region of the Kumbhalgarh National Forest reserve of Southern Rajasthan. The site of the reserve located about 6 km from the Ranakpur Jain Temple is located on the highway itself making it easily accessible to the tourists travelling between Udaipur & Jodhpur. The total area under development for this reserve is 211 hectares with a perimeter wall having a length of 6.3 km.

Progress Report

“There is a lot of ground work being done by the Forest department to ensure readiness of the area,” said Mr. Kishan Chaudhary, Operations Manager at Mana Hotels. “Extensive surveys are being conducted to identify the impact of creating this reserve on the existing villages & its residents,” he added.

Including existing Safari Routes of Ranakpur

Keeping in mind the impact of creation of a tiger reserve on the tourism for an area such as Ranakpur – Kumbhalgarh, the president of the Ranakpur Hotel Association sent out an aptly timed request letter to the forest department asking for inclusions of some existing safari routes of Ranakpur into the plans for the tiger reserve. “These routes have been frequented by tourists over the years and have become a part of the rich tourism experience that the region offers. Incorporating these routes within the proposed core and buffer areas of the Kumbhalgarh Tiger Reserve will not only enhance the reserve’s value but also ensure the sustainable continuation of eco-tourism in the area,” wrote Mr. Raghuraj Singh, President of the Ranakpur Hotel Association.

Although no timelines have been shared by the stakeholders about the various stages involved in the establishment of the reserve, it is safe to assume that a few years will be needed to get things in order.
